Episode 9

Rita pushed Kwame onto the bed and climbed onto him. She looked like she had come to war. She scowled at him and tore his shirt. She yelled at him and slapped him in the face.

“So you think you can leave me eh. You are joking?”

“Aunty Rita please get off me”

“Kwame, you are mine”

Kwame kicked her abdomen and pulled himself from beneath her and run towards the door. Rita smiled, and then grinned until she burst into an evil laughter. Kwame looked at her one more time and turned the door knob. A shadow towered above him. When he looked up, Frank was at the door. He smiled at Kwame. –And then he was indifferent. –and then he frowned. He pushed him to the floor and bolted the door. He carried him back up and hit him hard. Kwame fell on the bed and groaned in pain. Rita stroked his ear and kissed his cheeks. –and then she whispered

“Hello baby boy. You’re going to explore your highest potential”

Kwame began to sob. Tears rolled down his cheeks into his mouth to stifle his cry. He thought about the agony he was about to go through. He had heard stories of young people who died because bad people forced themselves on them this way. He thought about his parents. Would they find out now? This way? Would the Oduro’s also finally know who Bro Frank really is? Frank climbed into the bed with them. He began to smell Kwame. Frank reached for Kwame’s belt. Rita reached for his lips.

Kwame jerked awake. Sweat had bathed his body like rain. He was the only one in the classroom.  Events from the earlier church service began to play in his mind. He remembered how he stiffened again and couldn’t move. How became confused and lost in some deep shallow thoughts. He’s been in Sunday school throughout his life but this preacher man didn’t really talk about growing up in Sunday school. And the folks in that service, he didn’t know God the way these people knew him. They looked like they lived with God and talked to him. He wanted this relationship. –but he remembered he had been in a relationship with Rita and Frank. People had used his body to do things that were ungodly. They had made him touch places God didn’t approve off. Could these hands and feet be dragged to God? No, he didn’t think so!
