Episode 8

As he walked to the senior, different thoughts rushed through his mind like a waterfall. Every step was calculated to give him confidence. He greeted the senior in what was almost a whisper. He said His name was Prince. He looked Kwame over, perceived the fright that had painted his face and told him to relax. He then invited Kwame to church. He said it was just an hour service they had after prep. Well, it was one of the safest places to be at that time so Kwame didn’t hesitate to go. He thought to himself, “So there could be God in the midst of this chaos?”

When he entered the auditorium, he saw people in worship. He saw hands lifted and tears rolling. Everything looked so sincere. The sound equipment was not luxurious. The Assembly Hall wasn’t spectacular but there was a fragrance in the atmosphere. Something he had not experienced before. He began to sing along. Those ten minutes of worship was like eternity to him. He wished it wouldn’t stop. He wanted the songs to play. He wanted the voices to continue praying. –and that day, he said a prayer to God. He wanted to have what they had. He wanted to know God like these people.

The worship was over and the preacher man came. He wondered why they introduced him as preacher man. Wasn’t preacher just enough? Well, maybe it was something about Senior High School. The preacher spoke about having a relationship with God. He said God was our father. He mentioned that God loves us and is with us every step of the way. God knows everything we might have gone through since our childhood and he loves us the same. –and then he said, if anyone wants to surrender to Jesus, may the person step forward and walk to him. That was when the mind battle began.
