Slim Bola

He likes his trousers big
With some free space to dangle on the sides when he walks
He wants his shirts large
So that when he tucks in some air will fill the back of the remaining garment and pretend to cushion his vertebrae
He likes his jacket huge
There should be free space on the inside to house his three cell phones

He
This other Christian man
He likes his trousers slim
He cuts off the extra space of his shirt to probably sew a new one
He wants his tuxedo to hug his body and caress his biceps so that the sleeves can kiss his wrists

The former thinks the latter is devilish
Concerned with the fading things of this world
Why would someone bought by the blood of the lamb be so concerned about clothes that fit when souls are perishing
Jesus didn’t save us so that we can be pioneers of fashion
Parading the church in flashy clothes and shoes and expensive watches
All is vanity

The latter thinks the former is a hypocrite
That his oversized clothes are just a cover up of his secret sins and self righteous mind
He says holiness and purity is not measured by the yards of fabric that flap your thighs when you pass by
Nor the depth of the knowledge of God based on how blanketing your jacket is
It is all a ‘crifétual’ concert
Why waste so much fabric when you can just cut it right to fit you?

Two brothers
Saved by the same grace
But making laws out of things God has long redeemed us from
When did you tell somebody about Jesus!
And the grace he gives freely to save
Every man that comes to Him
Nope
And you’re here fighting a battle
Of skinny and oversized jackets
Of head gears and hair extensions
Of what meat is evil and what is not
Of what shoe is befitting of a Pastor

Come on!
Jesus didn’t die for this!

I’m not asking you to pump your breast out into your mouth
Or let your manhood be tattooed in your trousers breathing for space
I’m not saying the young men and women should be blinded by indecent dressing and proclaim that their hearts are pure

What I am saying is that
Slim or bola
Kaba or Straight dress
Tuxedo or Kaftan
Ponk or sweat
Afro or permed
Let it give God glory!

Anytime you feel like you gotta meet a particular cultural norm to be fully saved
Remember that the relevant circumcision is that of the heart
And in that
There is no Jew
Nor gentile

Just a chosen generation
A royal priesthood
And a Holy Nation
Called forth to live Christ from the inside out
Are you willing?
